In Odisha’s Bhitarkanika National Park, forest officials are actively identifying rare saltwater crocodile nests under the leadership of ACF Manas Kumar Das. Due to the risk of tidal flooding, eggs from vulnerable nests are being safely collected and shifted to the Dangmal Crocodile Breeding Center for artificial hatching. Every year, from May to July, crocodiles lay around 40–60 eggs per nest in carefully built elevated nests.
