Museveni gives balaalo herdsmen 14 days to leave Northern Uganda

President Museveni has given migrant herdsmen, commonly known as the Balaalo, 14 days, effective immediately, to vacate northern Uganda with their cattle or face forceful eviction. According to the State Minister for Northern Uganda, Kenneth Omona, the directive followed a meeting with the President on May 19, 2025, and comes after the lifting of the animal quarantine following the successful nationwide vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease. Minister Omona, who was flanked by the Fourth Infantry Division Commander, Maj. Gen. Felix Busizoori, and the Fifth Division Army Deputy Commander, Col.
