Stranded Steelhead: The Great Basin Redband of Nevada

A land of extremes.. I’ll say it again. A land of extremes. Silver denotes second, but this state might be second to none if you’re panning for diversity of landscape and opportunity. More than just a gamblers paradise, or some craggy desert. Nevada is a seldom traveled state with mere patches of civilization thinly sewn on to this real wilderness. They say what happens in these parts tends to stays in these parts.. Many meanings can be derived.. but for anglers like myself, the imagination drifts to the geographic wonder that is the Great Basin. So many ancient giants used to converge within these arbitrary dividing lines and shaped some of the most iconic trout species here in the Untied states. Each and every unique population has a fascinating story that deserves to be told. Some of these trout are doing well and others could definitely use a helping hand.. But if you never know, you’ll never care. Combining weekend day-trips with ambitious backpacking adventures and ya know a few after work afternoons, I’d say I bit off a lot, and sometimes it was hard to chew, but what was captured is a diverse taste of what this mystery land has to offer. If you’re still watching, just know that a lot of work went into this production. I still work a full time job and do all this fishing, filming, and editing on the side.
