Modica Sicily 1960

This is video my grandparents took on their visit back to Modica, Sicily (Sicilia, Italia) back in 1960. My grandfather, Giorgio Girasa, and his wife, Anna Girasa, were visiting his sisters, Lena and Graziella. Most of the film was shot in Modica I believe. There is one snippet from the Bronx, NY that got in here. I believe the footage also shows Lena's husband and daughter. I apologze for the shaky camera. The camera was a 8mm that shot about 50 feet at a time. I was in Modica in 2018 and the town was just as beautiful though not as many fun old cars! Modica is a town worth visiting. The chocolate shops are so much fun and the owners will give you a tour. The city also has 100 churches! I was able to see almost a dozen when I visited. There is a scene where you will see caves that were turned into homes. One of these was where my grandfather lived as a baby in the 1910s. Enjoy! C'è un frammento dal Bronx, New York, che è arrivato qui. Credo che il filmato mostri anche il marito e la figlia di Lena. Mi scuso per la fotocamera traballante. La fotocamera era un 8mm che scattava a circa 50 piedi alla volta. Ero a Modica nel 2018 e la città era altrettanto bella anche se non così tante vecchie auto divertenti! Modica è una città da visitare. I negozi di cioccolato sono così divertenti e i proprietari ti faranno fare un giro. La città ha anche 100 chiese! Sono stato in grado di vederne quasi una dozzina quando ho visitato. C'è una scena in cui vedrai le grotte che sono state trasformate in case. Uno di questi era dove mio nonno visse da bambino negli anni '10. Divertiti!
