EN: ➣ Casablanca is a completely different experience compared to Marrakech or Essaouira. It is a modern metropolis where business, Art Deco architecture, and cinematic nostalgia blend together. 🎬 Rick’s Café: Film vs. Reality Many tourists are surprised to learn that the famous movie Casablanca (1942) was not filmed in the city at all (it was all shot in studios in California). The real Rick’s Café was only opened in 2004 by a former American diplomat, Kathy Kriger, to fulfill the dream of the film's fans. It is located in a renovated mansion (riad) near the walls of the old Medina. The interior is a faithful copy of the bar from the movie—complete with arches, palms, brass lamps, and, of course, a Pleyel piano from the 1930s. If you are looking for 1940s romance, this is the only place in the world where you can truly experience it with live jazz and a cocktail in hand. ➣ Casablanca is the largest port in Morocco and one of the most important in all of Africa. It is the industrial heart of the city. If you arrive by cruise ship, you will see massive cargo terminals that contrast beautifully with the small blue fishing boats in the older part of the harbor. La Corniche is a modern seaside promenade full of luxury hotels, restaurants, and beach clubs. It is the place where locals go to see and be seen, and to relax by the ocean. ➣ The Casablanca Cathedral (Cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur) is a majestic white concrete building that no longer serves as a church but as a cultural center. It is built in the Mauresque style (a mix of European modernism and Moroccan details). The Marché Central (Central Market) is a historic market in the city center built during the French protectorate. It is a paradise for food lovers—featuring fresh oysters, seafood, and flowers. Tip: Buy your fish directly from the vendor and have it grilled immediately at one of the nearby restaurants for a small fee. SK: ➣ Casablanca je úplne iný zážitok než Marrákeš alebo Essaouira. Je to moderná metropola, kde sa mieša biznis, Art Deco architektúra a filmová nostalgia. Tu sú informácie pre tvoj vlog, prehľadne rozdelené podľa tvojich požiadaviek. 🎬 Rick’s Café: Film vs. Realita Mnohí turisti sú prekvapení, že slávny film Casablanca (1942) sa v meste vôbec nenatáčal (všetko vzniklo v ateliéroch v Kalifornii). Skutočné Rick’s Café otvorila až v roku 2004 bývalá americká diplomatka Kathy Kriger, aby fanúšikom filmu splnila ich sen. Nachádza sa v zrekonštruovanom kaštieli (riad) pri hradbách starej Mediny. Interiér je vernou kópiou baru z filmu – nechýbajú oblúky, palmy, mosadzné lampy a, samozrejme, klavír Pleyel z 30. rokov. „Ak hľadáte romantiku 40. rokov, toto je jediné miesto na svete, kde ju naozaj zažijete so živým džezom a pohárom drinku. ➣ Casablanca je najväčším prístavom v Maroku a jedným z najdôležitejších v celej Afrike. Je to priemyselné srdce mesta. Ak prichádzaš výletnou loďou, uvidíš obrovské nákladné terminály, ktoré kontrastujú s modrými rybárskymi loďkami v staršej časti prístavu. Moderná prímorská promenáda plná luxusných hotelov, reštaurácií a plážových klubov. Je to miesto, kde sa domáci chodia predvádzať a relaxovať pri oceáne. ➣ Katedrála Najsvätejšieho Srdca (Cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur) je majestátna biela stavba z betónu, ktorá dnes už neslúži cirkvi, ale ako kultúrne centrum. Je postavená v štýle Mauresque (mix európskej moderny a marockých detailov). Marché Central (Centrálny trh) je historický trh v centre mesta postavený počas francúzskeho protektorátu. Je to raj pre milovníkov jedla – čerstvé ustrice, morské plody a kvety. Tip: Kúp si rybu priamo u predajcu a v okolitých reštauráciách ti ju za malý poplatok hneď ugrilujú.
