"Hepatic Encephalopathy: Best Practice & Management" by Prof. Jasmohan Bajaj, MD, FAASLD

About the speaker: Prof. Bajaj holds the position of Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Virginia Commonwealth University and McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, VA. He is a recognized Fellow of both the American Gastroenterological Association and the American College of Gastroenterology. Prof. Bajaj obtained his MBBS degree from Delhi University at Maulana Azad Medical College. He underwent an internship in internal medicine at Delhi University, Maulana Azad Medical College, and completed his internal medicine residency at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn. Furthering his medical expertise, he pursued a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals, followed by earning an MS in epidemiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. As the co-editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Gastroenterology (Red Journal), Dr. Bajaj has shown long-standing dedication, having previously served as an associate editor for over a decade. He has contributed significantly to clinical trials related to hepatic encephalopathy, chronic liver disease, and microbiome research, with his findings published in prestigious journals such as Nature, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, American Journal of Gastroenterology, and Liver Transplantation. Dr. Bajaj also holds the position of chair for the North American Consortium for the Study of End-Stage Liver Disease. Prof. Bajaj's groundbreaking research on the intestinal microbiome in cirrhosis and its impact on brain function, both pre and post-liver transplant, has revolutionized the field. His work has become the cornerstone for the global assessment and treatment of hepatic encephalopathy.
