The popular opinion is to overexpose and shoot between +1.7 and +2.0 & although I often follow this method, it can result in a lot more work. Unlike previous generation Sony cams, on the A7sIII, A7IV, FX3 & FX6, exposing correctly for skintones WILL NOT give you noise in the shadows especially when using the Phantom LUTS https://bit.ly/3cqdikV Slightly overexposing will give you more detail in the lows but you also sacrifice some range in your highs. Overexposing means more time in post where getting the perfect exposure is simply a click away from a beautiful image.
