Amish Friendship Bread Starter Amish Friendship Bread Starter and Bread. This bread is sweet and dense and taste like banana bread but without the bananas. It's a 10 day process but I think it's totally worth the effort. I was gifted a bag of starter and it's my first time ever using started so this process was really fun to try. I'm glad I got to make a video, showing the process. The recipe I was given with it is very simple and doesn't explain everything well. So I found a recipe online that follows the same steps and ingredients that I used with the expecting of the spices and I didn't add baking soda to my bread.
