Vyacheslav Molotov was a key figure in Soviet politics, serving as Prime Minister and Foreign Minister under Joseph Stalin. He is most infamously known for signing the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, a non-aggression treaty with Nazi Germany in 1939 that secretly divided Eastern Europe into spheres of influence, directly preceding the outbreak of World War II. Molotov also played a significant role in the Great Purge and later became known for his uncompromising stance during the Cold War and having the "Molotov cocktail" named after him.
