RC0518 Jim Clark National Rally 2005 - A Full Report

The 2005 Jim Clark National Rally provided a high-speed supporting act to the prestigious Jim Clark International Rally in the Scottish Borders. Run over the same demanding closed public roads and fast tarmac stages around Kelso and Duns, the National event attracted a strong entry of British championship contenders eager to tackle some of the finest asphalt stages in the United Kingdom. While the International Rally was dominated by eventual British Rally Champion Mark Higgins in his Ford Focus WRC, the National Rally produced a closely fought contest of its own. After two days of flat-out competition across the Borders lanes, Tony Davies and Jim Kitson emerged as National Rally winners in their Subaru Impreza WRC. Held alongside the famous Jim Clark International Rally, the National Rally benefited from excellent spectator interest and the unique atmosphere of one of Britain's most celebrated tarmac events.
