GoldenEye 007 (1997) - Full Game

GoldenEye is my favourite Bond film of all time and I played the hell out of the remake on the Wii but somehow never played the original iconic video game. This game was so impressive in many ways - the gunplay is actually amazing, the way the enemies react to being shot in different parts of their body - it's honestly insane how they pulled this off. The OST is goated - the best in the franchise by a LONG shot. The respect and love for the film is so clearly evident too. I LOVE this game's approach to difficulty in that it adds more objectives for you to complete - and I think games should do this more in general! Now obviously I am playing this nearly 30 years late but there are some things I want to point out. Firstly, this game is HARD and came out in a time where failing a level would mean the whole level has to be restarted - and I went through this a LOT in my playthrough because this game is tough in certain levels. Bunker 2 was disgusting in that it spawned in infinite guards which makes the level ridiculously hard to beat and ofc protecting Natalya in control room was notorious for a reason! Also, some objectives were a bit too hard to figure out and too easy to fail - so a balancing issue. Anyway though - still a damn fun game and deserves all the praise and respect for what it did for the medium and for what it inspired - I even loved the Aztec MOONRAKER level with JAWS!! Such a loveletter for Bond fans.
