Wicked Lasers WiFi Lasercube: Connectivity Modes
Quick Setup and Operation: • LaserCube WiFi - Quick Start Guide - Setup... Wicked Lasers’ new Wifi Lasercube can be controlled from android phones, iphones, tablets, pcs running windows, and macs. There are several easy ways to connect. You can do a WiFi connection, a LAN connection through a network router, or even connect your device directly to the LAN port of the lasercube. We’ll cover all the connectivity methods in this video, but first make sure LaserOS is installed on your control device and your Lasercube is ready for operation, as described in our quick setup video linked below. WiFi Server Mode In WiFi server mode, the lasercube acts as a 2.4GHz WiFi server, and you connect your control device like you would to any wifi network A single press of the mode button will display the current mode and status. To change modes, press and hold the mode button until the lasercube projects the current mode with an asterisk next to it. Release the button. Now that the mode menu is constantly projected, a quick single-press of the mode button shows you all the options. When you get to the mode you want, which in this case is WiFi-Server, press and hold the mode button until the Lasercube restarts. Now the status LED will flash a cyan color. This means it’s waiting for your control device to connect. On your control device, go to the WiFi settings and connect to the network called LaserCube. The password is Laser2020 and it IS case sensitive. Once your device is connected, the status LED will stop flashing and remain cyan. Next, start LaserOS. Note: this scene can be used over and over. On a computer, if “Laser Off” is displayed over the status button, it means you’re connected. When you’re ready to play your lasershow, just click it to turn the “Laser On”. On an android or iOS device, if the play button is blue, it means you’re connected. When you’re ready to play your lasershow, just tap on that button. If you aren’t connected to the lasercube, you might have a version of LaserOS which requires the settings - general - network option turned on. If this option isn’t there it means it’s automatic. On newer LaserOS versions, there is a toggle to switch between USB and WiFi lasercubes. WiFi Client Mode In WiFi client mode, the Lasercube connects to a WiFi network with a standard WPS router. Press and hold the mode button until the current mode is displayed, then release the button. Quick-press the mode button until you see “WiFi Client”. Press and hold the mode button until the lasercube restarts. If this is the first time connecting the lasercube to your WiFi network, press and hold the mode button again until it turns white. It’s now waiting for a signal from your router. On your router, press the WPS button. The status LED on the Lasercube will turn blue and flash a couple times then turn solid to let you know it’s now connected. Now, any device running LaserOS and connected to the same WiFi network will be able to control the lasercube. LAN Server Mode LAN server mode lets you connect directly to the Lasercube through the LAN port. If your control device also has a LAN port, like on a laptop, all you’ll need is an Ethernet cable. Same as before, press and hold the mode button until the current mode is displayed. Single-press until you get to LAN server mode, then press and hold to restart the lasercube. Connect your Ethernet cable. When the status light turns yellow, you’re good to go! You can also use lightning or USB-C Ethernet adapters to connect iPhones, iPads, android phones, and tablets. LAN Client Mode LAN client mode lets you plug your lasercube into an available port on your network router. Once again, hold down the mode button until the current mode is displayed. Single-press until you see LAN Client. Press and hold until the lasercube restarts. Connect your Ethernet cable from the router to the lasercube. The status LED will flash green while connecting, and will stay green once it’s connected. Start up LaserOS on any compatible device connected to the same network, and you’re good to go! If you have multiple WiFi lasercubes, you can connect them all to ports on your router and control them with one device.
