Always state HSN and TSN when ordering parts!!!! After 245,000 km of service life, the body of our T5 Multivan (BNZ / automatic) shakes considerably, especially when starting off. I suspect the four engine mounts, as the vibrations are only noticeable in the body and not, for example, in the steering or braking. Since the mounts are now old and have a high mileage, the engine vibrations are no longer properly dampened and are thus transmitted to the body. So I'm trying to replace them myself and have purchased replacement parts from the original equipment manufacturer Lemförder. This wasn't so easy online, as there are apparently delivery or production issues. I only got three bearings online: the engine mount for the front torque support, the hydraulic mount, and the bearing for the rear torque support. I could only get the transmission mount from my VW dealer. Of course, there are other manufacturers, but Lemförder or the original from an authorized dealer are probably the best. I had problems right away with the front bearing, as the long screw connecting the torque support and bearing couldn't be removed due to a lack of space. So I had to remove the inner fender, the parking aid (bull bar), and a horn to get the impact wrench to work. It's definitely worth buying a decent screwdriver with a high loosening torque, whether battery-powered or pneumatic. So the bearing took me the first day. Fortunately, the other three went faster, thanks in no small part to my friend Danny. The transmission mount and the hydraulic mount can also be replaced relatively easily and quickly by yourself. I estimate a maximum of 1.5 hours per bearing. On the rear bearing, i.e., on the rear torque arm, it's probably the most difficult to loosen and retighten the upper bolt (support to bearing) on your own. We opted for the proverbial solution through the engine compartment from above. With three 1/2-inch extensions, a joint, and a 16mm socket, this was no problem with two people. On my own, I would have tried a 16mm offset ring wrench, as initially suggested in the video, or the aforementioned VAG special tool. When removing the bearing, be careful not to damage the steering line. The second person also did it in just over an hour. All of this is absolutely doable even as a hobby mechanic, and it's amazing how smoothly the car runs again. Thanks for your interest in my videos!!!
