Kevin Kadar

Kevin Kadar was known by his colleagues as a painter’s painter, an artist deeply committed to color, gesture, memory, and the act of painting itself. Plans for this survey exhibit began in early 2025. We intended to focus on his recent Bandiagara Escarpment series, inspired by the cliffs of Dogon country in Mali, West Africa. Then after his passing the show became a memorial retrospective. Spanning work from 1976 through 2025, the exhibition traces Kevin’s evolution from early self-portraits and figure studies to travel paintings, the Vacuum World and Envelope paintings, and his final, radiant landscapes.
