Lustleigh is a charming village located within the Dartmoor National Park in Devon, England. Lustleigh has ancient origins, with evidence of settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) as "Sutreleia." The village church St. John the Baptist Church dates back to the 13th century, with additions from the 15th century. It features a Norman font and several historic stained glass windows. The village orchard is a focal point, featuring the May Day Rock, where local children dance around the Maypole during annual celebrations. Balancing the preservation of the village’s historic and natural features with the needs of residents and visitors is an ongoing challenge.
