S1-EP.4 Les femmes navigatrices

There are few sports where women compete on equal footing with men. Six women will be at the starting line of the Vendée Globe this year. The series "At the Heart of the Globe" recounts the preparation of the Initiatives-Cœur racing team for the world's toughest race: a solo, non-stop, unassisted round-the-world sailing race. It's the story of an extraordinary feat: developing, in France, a high-tech prototype boat for Samantha Davies, one of the few female sailors to dare to brave the Southern Ocean. Facing her are 33 competitors, including her partner, Romain Attanasio. A human adventure: the efforts, doubts, setbacks, successes, secrets, and self-transcendence of a skipper and his team of passionate individuals who overcome all obstacles to reach the starting line of the Vendée Globe on November 8, 2020. Sailor Sam Davies, aboard her sailboat Initiatives-Cœur, participates in major offshore races (Vendée Globe, Route du Rhum, Transat Jacques Vabre) to save children. Each race is an opportunity to raise funds for the humanitarian organization Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque. This organization enables children with heart defects from disadvantaged countries to undergo surgery in France when it is impossible in their home countries due to a lack of technical or financial resources. More than 200 children have already received heart surgery thanks to this charitable sporting project. ————— To subscribe to the InitiativesTV channel, click here ▶ http://goo.gl/r5L72n Save a child, click here ▶   / initiativesc.  .
