Electrical Grid Training Module 16A | Scheme Check Commissioning
Electrical Grid Training Module 16A covers scheme-check testing and commissioning for control, protection, interlock, alarm and automation logic. This lesson explains general scheme checks, ABTS and ACCS case testing, equipment protection drawings, traceable evidence and final restoration. TOPICS COVERED • Approved schematics, SLDs, interlock/trip matrices, I/O lists and test boundaries • Panel, LCC and relay/control wiring, terminals, fuses, selectors, lamps and links • Local/remote commands, permissives, blocking, timers, alarms and fail-safe states • Automatic Bus Transfer System (ABTS) Case 1 with BS32/S320 open • ABTS Cases 2 and 3 for incomer fault and bus-section transfer • ABTS Case 4 for all sections closed and maximum parallel-condition logic • Automatic Capacitor Control Scheme (ACCS) Cases 1 to 3 • Voltage, VAR and power-factor inputs, switching order, delays and anti-hunting • 380 kV overhead-line and busbar protection scheme checking • 132 kV overhead-line/UGC and busbar protection scheme checking • 380/132 kV transformer protection, REF, OLTC, trip and alarm logic • 132 kV shunt-reactor and capacitor-bank protection schemes • CT/VT, DC supply, trip/close, lockout, teleprotection, SOE and SAS point tracing • Redlined drawings, point-to-point records, screenshots, event logs and witness sign-off VIDEO CHAPTERS 00:00 Module 16 overview and scheme-check scope 00:23 Standards and reference governance 01:27 General scheme-check instructions 04:18 ABTS Case 1 - BS32/S320 open 06:48 ABTS Cases 2 and 3 - fault transfer logic 09:44 ABTS Case 4 - maximum parallel logic 12:37 ACCS Case 1 - AB and BC open 15:33 ACCS Case 2 - AB open, BC closed 18:11 ACCS Case 3 - AB closed, BC open 20:51 380 kV overhead-line protection scheme 24:01 380 kV busbar protection scheme 27:02 132 kV overhead-line / UGC scheme 29:50 380 kV power-transformer protection scheme 32:52 132 kV power-transformer protection scheme 35:45 132 kV busbar protection scheme 38:29 132 kV shunt-reactor protection scheme 40:38 132 kV capacitor-bank protection scheme CORE ACCEPTANCE RULE No approved drawing set, test matrix and safe boundary, no scheme check. No controlled trip/close outputs or validated simulation, no functional proof. No verified interlocks, alarms, SOE and SAS points, no acceptance. No restored links, selectors, test plugs, settings and normal modes, no release. No complete evidence package, no closure. INTENDED AUDIENCE Commissioning, protection/control and substation engineers, scheme-check and SAS teams, utility and OEM specialists, QA/QC teams, contractors, operators and technical trainees. SAFETY NOTICE This video is for professional training only. Scheme checks can initiate breaker trips, close commands, bus transfer, capacitor switching, lockout and remote operations. Only authorized and competent personnel may access panels, isolate CT/VT or AC/DC circuits, install test plugs, inject signals, simulate breaker/switch status, force I/O or test trip, close, ABTS, ACCS and interlocking paths. Never open-circuit an energized CT secondary or backfeed a VT circuit. Prevent unintended breaker operation, source paralleling, transfer, capacitor energization, remote trip and protection left blocked. Confirm PTW/LOTO, approved drawings, test boundaries, trip/close isolation, simulators, barriers, PPE, supplies and communication with operations. Reduce injection to zero before moving leads. After testing, remove temporary leads and forcing. Restore links, fuses, selectors, test plugs, settings, automatic modes, alarms, SOE and SAS status. Follow approved procedures, switching orders, risk assessments, OEM instructions and the site authority. Project-specific case tables, timers, parallel limits, thresholds and logic always govern.
