Duke Ellington - Come Sunday | WDR BIG BAND

Melanie Charles joins the WDR BIG BAND in singing the Duke Ellington song "Come Sunday" (arrangement: Chuck Owen and Terri Lyne Carrington). Solos will be played by Johan Hörlén on alto saxophone and Ludwig Nuss on trombone. The WDR BIG BAND is conducted by Chuck Owen. Produced as part of the WDR JAZZCLUB concert "Drummer Queen" at WDR Studios Bocklemünd / Cologne (March 2023). Music was in the air in the Carrington home, and everywhere: the grandfather was a drummer with Fats Waller, the father played saxophone in James Brown's band. Terri Lyne Carrington began with the saxophone, but at the age of seven she grabbed her grandfather's drums - the starting signal for an extremely successful career as a drummer, composer and also producer. Carrington has worked with many prominent musicians over the past four decades, including Joni Mitchell and Herbie Hancock.
