Pupa Kanda is a poet, singer, writer, composer, and spoken word performer (Poet Bud). Pupa Kanda is Angolan and based in Brazil. Pupa is of Ambundu origin, belonging to the Bantu cultural trunk of Angola, and assumes his Rastafari identity as the spiritual, philosophical, and political foundation of his art. His work addresses themes such as Rastafari and the philosophy of I and I (Rasta Far I), Africa in its multiple historical, cultural, and spiritual dimensions, as well as critical reflections on health and nutrition versus "nutricide," a concept that denounces the social, political, and economic impacts of industrialized food on Black and marginalized populations.
