390XP Minor Mod vs 500i Bone Stock vs 372XT Insane-O SS FOR THE WIN!!!

Filmed in October 2020 Here we look at the comparison between a 390xp, 500i, and 372 X-Torq (the XT designation). The mostly stock ( Needle stops removed and a slight squish band adjustment) Husqvarna 390xt runs 1st. Next comes the bone stock 500i. Lastly, we see the zipped 372xt. As mentioned, it is hard to tell through the handles how the/a saw feels. Case in point, the 390 and 500 run about the same times by the chart below. Unfortunately, the viewer cannot feel the difference in the handles on how the 390 pulls a little harder down low. A little glitch in the cinematography on the weight of the 372xt saw. Comes in at 16.6 pounds fully fueled ready to cut. Looking at the HP numbers is stock form again: 390xp 6.5 500i 6.8 372xt 5.5 In the end, I thought that the 372xt was a little faster by the feel of the power differential telescoping through the handle bars & pistol grip. If we look at the chart below again we can see that the 372 was pulled down much more as I applied extra pressure to the handle bars & pistol grip. It still managed coming up with the win. What can you say there, a 5.5 hp saw besting the latest in technology and the slightly modded 390 while giving up 1.3 & 1.0 hp respectively. Displacement numbers are 87.91cc for the 390. 79.24cc for the 500i. The "little saw that could" comes in at 70.7cc. Looking at the timed runs: 390xp at 12.960 went 7.90 down running 9240 and 8.17 running 8.17 up 500i at 13,390 went 8.13 down running 9560 and 7.90 running 10,030 up 372xt at 13,680 went 7.57 down running 9360 and 7.73 running 8760 up I am well pleased with the way the 372 runs now. No lazy transition from the mid range rpms to the upper threshold. Also note worthy, it drops off high idle like it's non smog 372 predecessors.
