Fougita Session 01: Establish Connection and Overcome Fear of Fly Spray with Rescue Mare Fougita

In this first session with Fougita, my goal is to get a feel for her and to establish a connection. I decided to start this at liberty to ensure Fougita wouldn’t feel forced. She had made enough forceful experiences already during her pre-race training. The owner also told me that she had a severe panic of fly spray. As it was July with extremely hot temperatures in France, I absolutely had to overcome this issue so that I could work with Fougita peacefully. This is where I discover the level of fear I am dealing with… would I be able to help her? At one point she literally reared over my head.... Would she decide that I was trustworthy?
