Yes, a Porsche 911 is faster, sharper, and probably objectively better. But if you have to choose between your head and your heart, this Aston Martin wins in Michel's case. The owner was actually looking for a Porsche Cayman. Until he saw this Vantage standing there. That was when the search was essentially over immediately. And we certainly understand why. The long nose, the wide hips, and those timeless lines still make this one of the most beautiful sports cars of this century. Under the hood lies the familiar 4.3-liter naturally aspirated V8. No turbos, no filters, no artificial soundtrack. This V8 only truly comes to life above 4,000 rpm. The sound alone makes it clear why enthusiasts are still crazy about this generation of Aston Martin. Even the automated manual gearbox, which used to receive a lot of criticism, has since acquired a certain charm. Modern cars do everything faster and better, but this one still requires driver involvement. That makes every drive just a little bit more special. Of course, there are downsides. It easily gets 6 miles per gallon, parts aren't cheap, and maintenance isn't done for Volkswagen money.
