In this episode, I leave Yinchuan and head deep into the Tengger Desert. At first, it was a beautiful ride past salt lakes and wild camels. But soon, the paved road completely ended, forcing me to take a steep, dangerous dirt detour with no turning back. Things went from bad to worse when the sun went down. The deep sand caused my first major crash of the trip. To make matters terrifying, my navigation completely failed, and I had zero cell phone signal in the pitch-black desert. I was riding blindly in the wrong direction with my fuel dropping fast.
