Ludwig van Beethoven's Great Fugue in B major op. 133, originally written for two violins, viola and cello, is played here by the WDR Symphony Orchestra in the version for string orchestra. The work was conducted by the long-standing chief conductor Jukka-Pekka Saraste, who bid farewell to the WDR Symphony Orchestra with this concert. Recorded live on July 5, 2019 at the Kölner Philharmonie.
