01 - Setting up workbench

This video will walk you through BI's own tutorial for setting up workbench including hot loading coding changes in the script editor. People have trouble following BI's tutorial because it requires a very high level of attention to detail. If something goes wrong, it is almost always because of a failure to follow the tutorial in some small way. https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/DayZ:M... https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/DayZ:W... This video will help but the attention-challenged among us (that means me) may still have some trouble. I created two tools that will help if BI's tutorial doesn't work even with the help of this video. 1. Workbench Wizard. The wizard automates the process for setting up workbench using a gui. This eliminates the small errors that trip us up with BI's tutorial. The next video in this series demonstrates the wizard.    • 02 - Using Workbench Wizard   2. Kommander. Kommander picks up where Workbench Wizard leaves off. It is a gui companion to workbench that will enable you to quickly create mods from templates that you can then customize to do your own thing. It handles build and launch for you. It also has an archive ability and some other useful tools. The remaining videos in this series discuss using Kommander.    • 03 - Demonstrating Kommander      • 04 - Kommander - Addons and Tools      • 05 - Kommander - Creating a DayZ mod with ...   00:00 Intro & vocabulary 01:30 Download tools from steam 02:00 Trips and Traps 03:02 Setting up the P: drive (mounting and extracting) 06:50 Create folder structure for first mod 07:50 Create config.cpp 08:41 Create file structure for packed mod 09:30 Pack mod with addonbuilder 10:07 Create symbolic links 12:45 Create script for first mod 14:52 Create mission files 16:22 Create batch file to run SP game and test 18:50 Single Player Init.c 19:15 Setup batchfile to launch server 20:20 Setup serverDZ.cfg 22:18 Create batch file to launch multiplayer game 23:38 Fixing the 'no mission scripts found' error 24:30 Testing MP server and game 25:29 Hooking up Workbench for hotloading 25:40 Create the link between P:\scripts and the dayZ game folder 27:56 Launch Workbench 28:59 Creating the launch workbench batch file 30:05 Test launching workbench from batch file 31:25 Launch MP server and game to test hot loading 32:20 Script debugger 'connected notification' 32:47 Testing print to output 34:38 Testing hotloading 35:42 Fine tune folders with Dab's fix scripts batch
