How to do ASO Keyword Research with Topanda's FREE Tool
This tool helps you build a stronger ASO keyword strategy for your iOS app by analyzing your app, its competitors, and the keywords they target. It is designed for the US App Store market only. 1. Enter your app ID Start by pasting your iOS App Store app ID into the field at the top and click Check App. The tool will load your app’s title, subtitle, and category information. 2. Choose your categories The tool will automatically suggest your main app category. You can keep that category and add up to 2 more, for a total of 3 categories. This helps the tool find relevant competitors across nearby niches. 3. Find and select competitors Click Find Competitors to generate a list of apps that appear relevant to your app. Review the list and select up to 10 competitors. These should be apps that target a similar audience, solve a similar problem, or rank for keywords you want to compete on. 4. Add similar apps In Step 2, the tool shows apps that are similar to your target app. You can add up to 7 more apps if they look relevant. This step helps widen the research set and uncover more keyword opportunities. 5. Review your app’s keywords Next, the tool extracts keywords from your own app title and subtitle. These are preselected for you. Uncheck anything that is not relevant to your current keyword strategy. 6. Review competitor keywords The tool then gathers keywords from the apps you selected earlier. Again, these are preselected by default. Remove any that are too broad, off-topic, branded, or not useful for your app. 7. Find more apps ranking for those keywords Based on the keywords you kept, the tool finds additional apps ranking for them. Select up to 10 apps that look most relevant and useful for deeper analysis. 8. Select additional keywords The tool extracts more keywords from those newly selected apps. Review the list and keep the ones that fit your app, audience, and positioning. 9. Review the final keyword map In the final step, the tool builds your keyword research output. You’ll see: a final keyword map keyword frequency insights competitor analysis tables a target app vs. competitors comparison downloadable CSV files Best practice: Focus on keywords that are relevant, specific, and aligned with your app’s value proposition.
