Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the protozoan Trichomonas vaginalis. In its acute phase, trichomoniasis has pronounced clinical symptoms affecting both the female and male genital organs. Patients experience itching in the urethra, vagina, and labia, redness of the genital mucosa, and foamy, mucous, and sometimes purulent discharge.
