[Your subscription would mean a lot to me!] I had the pleasure of staying at Tsuki no Usagi, a luxurious secluded inn in Ito, Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture. This exclusive retreat features only eight private villas, each with its own open-air onsen bath and breathtaking views—like having your own secret hideaway. From the traditional-style villas, you can gaze out over the vast ocean with Izu Oshima directly in front of you. The view was so stunning, I found myself completely lost in the moment. Dinner is served in a charming dining room overlooking a bamboo grove. The creative dishes, made with seasonal local ingredients, were all exquisite. I was especially impressed by the “Four Gourmet Treasures of Izu”: spiny lobster, abalone, splendid alfonsino (kinmedai), and Fujiyama wagyu beef. Each ingredient truly shined with its natural flavor. The fresh seafood and colorful seasonal vegetables were a feast for both the eyes and the palate.
