How a 2-phase separator works The product to be clarified flows into the interior of the drum through a stationary inlet pipe. where it is gently accelerated to full speed. The product stream splits into many thin layers through the plate pack, creating the largest possible surface area. Clarification of the product results from the different densities of the individual product components. The solid particles are separated from the liquid by centrifugal force, clarifying the liquid. The clarified liquid then flows within the drum from the plate pack to the gripper, where it is discharged under pressure. The heavier solid particles settle on the outer drum wall. Gradually, more and more solid particles accumulate on the outside of the drum. The Soft-Shot® solid ejection system periodically ejects the separated particles at full speed. Both partial and complete emptying can be carried out.
