How to Use Molding Planes - Hand Tool Woodworking
This episode originally aired on September 19, 2011. Making moldings has to be one of my favorite parts of a project. You get to express your creativity and take a plain old boring box and turn it into a piece of furniture. This case is getting a simple waist molding that serves to draw the eye upwards from the floor and transition from the lower cases to the upper (once I get to building the upper cases). It also covers up the exposed joinery and helps to blend the three lower cases together and make them feel more like one large unit instead of three separate ones.
