A Very Archaic Ballad - Wind and Rain/Two Sisters (Roud 8)
Two sisters is a very old ballad. It likely originated in Norway and it's unknown how it entered into English folk music. Its peculiar lyrics and formulas, such as the corpse being likened to a golden swan and the description of the corpse decomposing over time, likely come from its Norwegian origin.
