I Was WRONG in Thinking that Removing Ivy Would be EASY

After another completed ivy removal job, I came to another customer who also wanted to free the brick wall of his house from old ivy. When I arrived at the place I started the work with cleaning the window sill with a scraper, but it turned out that the ivy was very much ingrown into the wall as the brick was not smooth but had an uneven structure, and the ivy was literally ingrown, so I had to use a flat shovel, which made the work a little easier and gradually I cleaned the wall moving very slowly, I had to climb on the ladder that would also clean the upper part of the wall from the ivy that would be easier to tear it off. While I was working I was visited several times by two retrievers, who kept eating something from under the trimmings, as I found out later they were eating the fruit of a fig tree that was nearby. After about an hour I was able to cut the ivy off the wall, but that was half the job, as it all had to be loaded into a trailer and taken to the dump, then I came back and when I saw my work gloves I realized why my hands hurt, as I had wiped them off on the wall while I was cleaning it. Then I started to remove the roots, and this proved to be the most difficult as the root went deep into the ground and was about 10cm thick, but it was complicated by the fact that I just couldn't get to it. But after about an hour's work I managed to get it all out, then I used a backpack blower to blow it all out and put it into green bags. Next I needed to clean the wall of small dry ivy shoots, for this I decided to use a round nylon brush designed for removing moss from sidewalks, but after 10 minutes of work I realized that this was a bad idea as it wears out very quickly and just wasn't designed for this job, so I had to use a handheld metal brush I had in my car “just in case” and it was much more effective, but it was not easy to do everything by hand as the wall area was large, so it took me a little over an hour of work. I then trimmed two trees that were next to each other and decided to burn the dry branches in the outdoor fireplace that was also there. This job took me almost 4 hours and one full trailer!
