There have been many rumors about a Protector of Shadows roaming the forest outside of Megapolis. Kira has wanted to find if it was true! One day, much to the warnings of her friends and the Monkey king himself, she ventures into the woods alone to uncover the myth. Without warning, she comes upon the Six Eared Macque, Protecter of Shadows. The trickster greets the young women kindly and offers to show her everything, but only if she would follow where he goes. Kira hesitating, agrees to his deal. She ends up spending a week in the forest, growing her bond with the shadow monkey. She begins missing her friends and asks if she could leave. Macaque finally hesitatingly lets her go. He says they’d meet again and leads her out with a light. All he wanted was a friend. And he has one now.
