"Strive To Be Happy" (Ivan Trevino) - Nicholas Behrends, marimba Oct. 5, 2016

"Strive To Be Happy" by Ivan Trevino (USA, b. 1983) was performed by Nicholas Behrends during the University of Northern Iowa Wind Symphony concert on October 5, 2016 in the Great Hall, Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, on the UNI campus in Cedar Falls. Nicholas Behrends is currently a percussion major in his second year at the University of Northern Iowa where he is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education. He has studied with many fine teachers including Matthew Andreini, Ryan Frost, and Randy Hogencamp. In his time at UNI, he has performed with multiple large and small ensembles including Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Panther Marching Band, UNI Jazz Panthers, West African Drum Ensemble, and many others. In his time with the UNI Wind Symphony, he was able to travel and tour Italy participating in conducting seminars as well as multiple performances throughout Italy. He currently holds many positions of leadership including Drumline Captain in the Panther Marching Band, and Head of Public Relations within the student Carillon Guild. Recorded with permission.
