Holiday Trains on Long Island Rail Road, Metro North, and the Subway

For the last video of 2025, we take a look at the four holiday trains the MTA operated across the New York metropolitan area. Following the success of last year’s Metro North “Holiday Lights” train with M8 multiple units, the MTA added an additional one on Metro North using diesel equipment including the MTA Central heritage P32 and a set of M9 multiple units on the Long Island Rail Road. We also take a look at the traditional New York Transit Museum holiday train using vintage R1/9 subway cars as they take an unexpected detour to the CBTC enabled Queens Boulevard Line due to switch problems.
