DUTCH POLKA: Addy Kleijngeld & De Vrolijke Mijnwerkers / Polydor 21-538 / 1959

Addy Kleijngeld (1922-1977) was a prize-winning accordionist from Helmond in the southern Netherlands, who took over his father’s dance orchestra at age 16. Kleijngeld played with many Dutch radio orchestras, and led the musette orchestra, Le Casse Musette. From his own musicians, he also organized smaller specialized groups, such as “De Vrolijke Mijnwerkers” (The Jolly Miners), which included his own and Tiny van Veghel’s accordions, and the percussion of Frans de Groot.
