Elias and Makani 27 Sep 2024

Headed out to Sand Island on the 27 th of September 2024. The tide peaked at about 2 feet and was coming in fast. We saw a lot of fish right off the bat and took shot after shot at the bones. There were schools of 4-5 bones coming into the shallows. Giant schools of weke (Goat Fish) were everywhere as well. We finally got our first fish in super shallow water. The water was abt 5 inches deep and the bones were not spokey, which is unuslual. Elias and I were fishing about 50 yards apart. He took a cast at two bones and missed. He yelled over to me letting me know that the fish were coming to me. It took a couple seconds before I aquired their location and sure enough they were swimming directly to me. With the Green Crab also know as Oscar the Grouch, I made several attempts to line up the fly to where the fish would end up. Finally got the cast in the perfect spot. The fly was only 6 yeards from where I was standing. I had to crouch and get low. I saw the fish see the fly and jump in the direction. Then within a split second the fish was on. We hooke a bunch of bonefish throughout the day. All and all it was one of thoes days that will go down in history or being awesome.
