Since then, thousands of drivers have been able to take advantage of this benefit. ⚖️ The Change: Conversion into Law No. 15.428/2026 As all Provisional Measures have an expiration date, it needed to be voted on by Congress. On June 5, 2026, the Provisional Measure was converted into Law No. 15.428/2026 (the 51st law to amend the Brazilian Traffic Code). However, the original text underwent crucial modifications during approval: The new Article 268-A of the CTB maintains the term "automatic renewal" and exempts RNPC drivers from the exams of Article 147. THE EXCEPTION: The text expressly included that the physical and mental aptitude exam is NOT waived. 🔍 In Practice: What changes for you? To be very direct and technical: in practice, automatic renewal no longer exists. Since the other exams mentioned in Article 147 were never required for regular renewals, and the medical exam (physical and mental fitness) has become mandatory again for everyone, the process returns to exactly how it always was.
