General History: USS Lexington (CV-2)
USS Lexington, CV-2, was the second aircraft carrier of the United States Navy. By design, at any rate. A conversion of the battlecruiser class of the same name, Lexington and her sister Saratoga would prove to be the foundation of American carrier design and doctrine. Their influence and legacy continues in the modern supercarriers of the USN, to this day.
