Te Maeva Nui 2018 - Tongareva Henua - Ute

Tongareva/Penrhyn's Ute for 2018 Te maeva Nui. They received an A grade for this performance. This years theme was ‘te au arapo o toku matakeinanga/enua’ (the traditional calendars of my ancestors/island). Costumed in ‘Tongareva blue’, Tongareva's ute performance featured the iconic singing talents of its people focussed on the harvesting of lagoon resources aligned to the arapo theme, as composed and tuned by Willie John, whose moko Tautaitini Andrew supported the design of the stunning and simple costumes which highlighted mother ocean and the prized pipi oyster pearl shells. Signing off, Dangerislander.
