Coleridge, Christabel

Samuel Taylor Coleridge's Christabel is a fine illustration of the way in which the aesthetic category of the sublime most naturally fits with a portrait of evil rather than, as per the Deists of the eighteenth century, with a sense of God. For Coleridge, the portrait of evil is clearly alluding to Milton's portrait of Sin in Book 2 of Paradise Lost. ❤️ If you find my channel helpful, become a channel member:    / drscottmasson   ❤️ Subscribe to my Substack: https://drscottmasson.substack.com/ ❤️ Support my channel and assist me in providing better content: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?token=...
