After graduating from the Department of Sports Science, School of Human Sciences, Waseda University, I enrolled in the Department of Sports Science at Oregon State University as an undergraduate to obtain a trainer's certification. However, feeling a disconnect with the natural science approach, I changed my major to cultural anthropology. I obtained a Master's degree in Applied Anthropology from the same university's graduate school. After two years as a temporary employee at an IT company, I enrolled in the Graduate School of Letters, Arts and Sciences, Waseda University, and obtained a PhD in Literature. After four years outside of academia, I became a professor at the Institute for Liberal Arts, Tokyo University of Science (formerly Tokyo Institute of Technology) in 2024.
