Set up in the year 1897, the Godrej group is one of India’s most renowned and regarded groups of companies. It all started when Ardeshir Godrej and his sibling Pirojsha Burjorji Godrej started Godrej and Boyce, a lock making company. Then in 1918, Godrej Soaps Limited was incorporated. Their unique soaps made from vegetable oils were a huge success. Today under the helm of chairman Adi Godrej, the group has an income of over $5 billion. The group has a presence in various sectors of the economy including food items, retail accommodation stores, real estate, mechanical designing, electrical machines, furniture, security and agrarian items. The video will begin with a brief introduction of the group and its various businesses. Followed by which we will discuss the timeline of events of the group. For instance in 1952, Cinthol was launched on the Indian Independence Day. Cinthol made the company the second largest soap player in India. After this, we will discuss the various subsidiaries of the group in great detail which would help you with your fundamental analysis of the various listed companies. Companies include Godrej and Boyce Ltd, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, Godrej Agrovet Ltd, Godrej Properties Ltd, Godrej Industries Ltd and Astec Lifesciences.
