Exploring Fredericton New Brunswick's Capital City Adventure!

We’re back on the road in New Brunswick, Canada, and this time our travel log takes us to Fredericton, the provincial capital. Known for its Historic Garrison District, museums, and riverfront charm, Fredericton is a city full of history and culture. But as we found out, visiting in September has its surprises! On arrival in downtown Fredericton, we discovered that many of the museums and attractions were closed for the season, closed on Wednesdays, or even shut down due to a power outage. Instead of a packed schedule, our day turned into a walking exploration of historic sites like the Old Burial Ground, the Justice Building, and other landmarks around the Garrison District. The highlight was joining a costumed walking tour with Will, a young interpreter who brought Fredericton’s past to life while seamlessly switching between English and French for visitors. From the Fredericton Regional Museum to the Legislative Assembly Building, he gave us a glimpse into the city’s rich heritage and bilingual character. Even though our original plans didn’t go as expected, we still found plenty to experience in Fredericton, proving that sometimes the best travel moments come when things don’t go according to plan.
