GRAN PARADISO 4061m in a day from Chamonix!
Gran Paradiso lies to the south of Chamonix, and is the closest 4000m peak outside of the Mt Blanc massif. It is also one of the easiest to climb, being only F+/PD- in alpine grades. As such it makes a great ski touring objective, usually done over 2 days. But we wanted to see if we could climb it from Chamonix and back in a single day! At over 2180m of vertical and 20km distance, it is no push over, not to mention all the driving! But conditions were good and we had a stable weather window, so we went for it!
