Without rhythm or percussion, the musicians gradually unfold the melodic personality and emotional atmosphere (rasa) of Raga Charukeshi, allowing each note to breathe before the rhythmic cycle begins. This was a special unrehearsed encounter for Shivam Rath and Sangeet Mishra to converse musically live in the theatre in realtime after about 7 years ago where they performed together in the same theatre sharing the same Raga. Rather than focusing on speed or virtuosity, the Alap invites both performer and listener into a state of deep listening, presence and musical conversation to build the energy and mood before going into the rhythmic compositions. Part 2 continues the journey as the tabla enters, introducing rhythm and expanding the improvisation into a dynamic dialogue. Soul Sangeet is a contemporary expression rooted in the timeless traditions of Indian Classical Music, presenting the depth of Raga and Tala in a way that resonates with modern audiences while honouring the wisdom and lineage from which these traditions emerge.
