Iván Daniel Otero grew up too fast. After his parents' divorce, he went from being a child to an intermediary between two adults and his brother's father. He learned to take care of his family, to study, to fulfill his obligations, and he found in books and encyclopedias a way to escape everything he didn't know how to express. Years later, when Iván had two doctorates, a successful career as a lawyer and university professor, and a life that, from the outside, seemed settled, his marriage ended, and his deepest childhood fear came true: repeating his parents' story. Iván fell into a depression, but he didn't tell anyone. He didn't ask for help. He didn't know how to recognize that, even having "everything," he wasn't okay. Shortly afterward, he suddenly lost hearing in his right ear. In this week's episode, Iván talks with Juan Pablo about the cost of becoming the strong man who can handle anything, the shame of admitting that a life project failed, and the path he embarked on to listen to himself again, take responsibility for his story, and reconnect with the child he once had to leave behind.
