This early build featured a drastically different map, multiple islands connected by bridges, and scrapped locations like the Lighthouse and Chapel Rock where the Batcave was originally planned. The art style, character designs, and world layout all show a much more cartoon-inspired direction for the Arkham series. Thanks to talented community members such as Back2Life, Eversolong, and etkramer, many of these corrupted files were recovered or made viewable through a custom Unreal Engine 3 editor designed specifically for Rocksteady’s Arkham Asylum. Newly accessible levels include early rooftop areas, test maps, the original Botanical Gardens entrance with the planned hedge maze, and a character display level featuring early models of Batman, Penelope Young, Zach Franklin, and more. These discoveries reveal how much the game evolved before its final release.
