Very Minor but Great Jazz Albums Century Records Japan Reissued

I got a couple of jazz album reissues by Century Records Japan recently which are very interesting. 1. Elmo Hope Ensemble Sounds from Rikers Island on Audio Fidelity 2. Charlie Parker Sonny Criss Chet Baker Inglewood Jam on Jazz Chronicles The session of Hope album was recorded in 1963 in NY. The members present are Hope on p, Ronald Boykins on b, Philly Joe Jones on ds, John Gilmore on ts, and so on. Amazingly, the recording condition is superb and with this reissue in 1990, Toyo Kasei cut and pressed this copy making it superb pressing and sound quality. Hope himself I believe, is an underrated jazz pianist and this minor album is not that known and overlooked for sure. The other album, Inglewood Jam was recorded in 1952 at Inglewood in CA. When Charlie Parker visited the West Coast, Inglewood, the GM of that place, the bassist, Harry Babasin asked the Bird if he could jam with the players present there, Sonny Criss on as, Chet Baker on tp, Al Haig, Russ Freeman on p, Babasin on b, and Lawrence Marable on ds! Babasin decided to record the session privately. Amazingly, the recording condition is really great and the Bird, Criss play like the Alto Battle on some tracks! Baker - very young at that time also plays very cool! What a session! Anyway, Century Records did a great job uncovering many, minor jazz albums and reissued them in the 80's and 90's. In case you don't know these albums, it is better for you to dig.
