Everyman - A Medieval Morality Play

Everyman is the finest example of the medieval morality play. It clearly has a didactic function of religious instruction, but it is also fascinating as an exploration of the theme of death. It is fascinating to contrast Everyman with Christopher Marlowe's Dr Faustus, a similarly worldly character who, facing Death, makes a pact with the devil.
